VYAYAMA was founded with the intention of providing a natural alternative to synthetic yoga wear, with the belief that the products we use should be held to the same standards that we hold for ourselves. We believe that mindfulness should inspire quality, beauty and joy.
VYAYAMA pronounced 'vai-ah'mah' is a 3000 year old sanskrit word meaning 'to move' and 'to tame the inner breath'. The ancient Ayurvedic texts describe VYAYAMA as movement designed to stabilize and strengthen the body.
Our innovative TENCEL® fabric is crafted in Europe from sustainably farmed eucalyptus. This unique botanically based fabric is blended to be smooth, slimming and supportive. It is Eco-Awarded and Certified Non-Toxic, kind to your skin and kind to the Earth. TENCEL® is not only an extremely eco friendly, renewable fiber, but the fabrics created with it are among the softest and most high performing in terms of moisture management keeping you cool, healthy and comfortable.
TENCEL® has rarely been used as a technically supportive fabric. Achieving the perfect balance of softness and compression for our unique yoga separates took us a year of development with our fabric team in Portugal.
In our efforts to find the right partners for fabric and production we searched throughout both the US and Europe. We sought partners who also believe in responsibly produced, sustainable products and whose teams are protected by unions and strict health and safety standards. Our global search brought us to Portugal and manufacturing team that shares our unique vision.
We are proud that all the dye-houses of our production facilities have clean internal water treatments and in no way create any negative impact on the local environment. In addition, our custom designed fabrics are knitted in the same area as our garment production to reduce transportation impact on the environment. We strive to keep our production as concise and local as possible while creating a safe and beautiful product.
We ensure that all of our custom fabrics are third party tested and certified safe for the wearer and the environment by the European Oeko-tex Standard 100. This prestigious certification ensures that no harmful toxins from either fibers or the production process could possibly be absorbed by the skin while wearing.
